“Meditation Mine” is a project that archives the history of metal mining in the Allihies village, and reimagines how contemporary humanity could repurpose its remains through pockets of spaces. The building offers sensorial experience as one mediates the furious memories of the past and the present serenity.
The project serves as a pedestal to the Mining Shaft that has been protecting the almost-sacred landscape of the village. The structure, along with the visitors, tells an unwritten story of the silent heroism of miners and the gift they left behind: the landscape of the Allihies village where one could retreat to and find peace.
